Soak brown rice in water for around 30 minutes.
In a clay pot or a wok, take dal, put water and cook uncovered for 20 to 30 minutes. It should be just done and not mushy. Strain water and keep aside.
In another wok, take ghee add whole garam masala, chillies, add onions and carrots and stir for 1 min.
Now add brown rice and coat well with masalas.
Put cooked dal into rice and add around 1 cup water.
Cover and cook till it is done.
Garnish with pistachios and almonds.
Finish with chopped coriander and caramelized onions.
Serve with Raita.
